Lord of the Flies is a key text in the dystopian fiction genre looking at questions raised about human nature, evil and morality. Set on a deserted island and following a plane crash, a group of evacuated boys are forced to fend for themselves. The dilemma of creating shelter, acquiring food and trying to protect themselves from any attack forces the boys to adopt a democratic system to try and ensure fairness, equality and justice. However, desperation for power and survival results in disastrous consequences as the beautiful island become a backdrop for evil to rise.
