Meeting at a cancer support group, Hazel and Augustus are two teenagers who share a sharp wit and a hatred for the conventional. Their relationship faces a huge amount of obstacles, given that Hazel’s other constant companion is an oxygen tank and Gus jokes about his prosthetic leg. With sometimes graphic descriptions, be warned that this is no typical love story. This mature and powerful novel is charmingly written, a true tear-jerker which takes you on a journey of teenage love and life with a serious illness. Hazel’s honest narration and her strength to love despite the consequences will capture teens’ attention most. Compelling and beautifully honest!
