Oliver twist is an utterly compelling story of an orphan living within Victorian England. As the novel progresses, Dickens builds Oliver to be an extremely likeable character through the heart wrenching emotion he provokes from his reader. He does this through the turbulent journey Oliver has so early into his life, such as beginning life with no parents, being forced to work in a work house, being beaten by an undertaker and then being manipulated by a criminal gang.
The novel explores life in Victorian England with a focus on the new vision for the city with the industrial revolution.
